The Town of Pittsfield is a mix of hamlets and small communities that intertwine along the western border of Otsego County, sitting at the southern tip of New York's picturesque Mohawk Valley Region. The township extends over 37 square miles and was formed in 1797 from part of the Town of Burlington. For more information about Pittsfield history, please see the Historical Society Page.

When a community is able to participate in its own
Board of Assessment Review, it allows mindful, local residents the ability to review the taxable value of real property throughout the township. Having local citizens sit on the Board of Assessment Review is a part of ensuring that properties are assessed fairly. As a member of the board, you will participate by hearing tax grievances brought by fellow residents who believe their property has been unfairly evaluated.
The Board of Assessment Review is responsible for determining an estimated fair market value for each parcel for which an Assessment Complaint has been filed. The Board reads and evaluates parcel appraisals and/or other evidence submitted by complainants. The Pittsfield Board of Assessment Review is responsible for fairly and impartially reviewing the assessments of all property within the Town of Pittsfield. The Board corrects all assessments which should be corrected, and/or directs the Pittsfield Assessor to change, correct, alter, or modify assessments as justice may require. This is a paid position. Protect Your Right To Have
Your Assessment Reviewed Locally. Volunteer for the Board of Assessment Review.
